SAN FRANCISCO (October 21) – Attorney Nicholas Bergara has joined Alto Litigation, the firm announced today, adding a former federal law clerk with experience in complex disputes and government investigations to the San Francisco litigation boutique.
Bergara represents companies, executives, and individuals in complex commercial disputes, arbitrations, and government investigations in federal and state courts. He has handled matters at every stage, from discovery and motion practice through class certification and trial. His experience includes breach of contract, business tort, and securities-related disputes, as well as international arbitrations and investigations by the DOJ, the CFTC, and Congress.
“Nick is a sharp, hardworking litigator, and we’re thrilled to have him on the team,” said Bahram Seyedin-Noor, CEO and founder of Alto Litigation. “His clerkship in the Northern District taught him how judges think about a case, and he brings that insight to every brief and every strategy session. Our clients will be well served by his judgment and his drive.”
Before joining Alto, Bergara clerked for the Honorable Eumi K. Lee of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Prior to his clerkship, he was a litigation associate at Foley Hoag LLP in New York, where he also maintained an active pro bono practice, representing clients in immigration proceedings and assisting incarcerated individuals with innocence claims. He holds a J.D., cum laude, from New York University School of Law, where he served as Online Editor of the New York University Law Review, and a B.S. from The University of Scranton. He is the author of “Nipping It in the Bud: Fixing the Principal-Agent Problem in Class Actions by Looking to Qui Tam Litigation,” 97 N.Y.U. L. Rev. 275 (2022). He is admitted to practice in New York and is fluent in Spanish.
